100th Year ANZAC Commemorations

April 25th 2015 marks the one hundred years since the dawn landing of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers at Gallipoli during the First World War. ANZAC Day is a day of remembrance and we remember those Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who fought and died at Gallipoli in 1915. 

 

ANZAC Day Dawn Service Kings Park

To commemorate this significant event, the Returned & Services League of Australia, Western Australia Branch Incorporated (RSLWA) will be hosting the Dawn Service in Kings Park and Botanic Garden.
Larger than usual crowds are expected this ANZAC Day and we recommend visitors arrive at Kings Park from 4.00 am onwards. Travel delays may occur so plan your journey to allow plenty of time.
Sunset services are also being held in 2015, from 5.00 pm on the 19-24 April at the State War Memorial. A different group or individual from World War One will be remembered each evening.

Time: The Dawn Service will be held from 5:50 am to 7.10 am.

ANZAC Day memorial service on Rottnest Island

ANZAC Day holds a special place on the Rottnest Island calendar of events.
The Island has a long and proud tradition of military service and on ANZAC Day we commemorate the men and women, both past and present, who have served their country in this moving dawn service.

For Love of Country: ANZAC Day Long Weekend

To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of WWI and the Australian Gallipoli campaign, there will be some free activities for children over the ANZAC Day Long Weekend as part of the For the Love of Country exhibition at The Art Gallery of WA.
Drawn from the State Art Collection, For the Love of Country, presents a compelling mix of historical works from the First and Second World Wars, together with contemporary works that reflect on wider issues and conflicts. The exhibition will be showing until 20 July with the following special activities available over the ANZAC Day Long Weekend, April 25 - 27.

ANZAC Day at ANZAC Cottage

The Sunset Service at ANZAC Cottage on ANZAC Day has become an annual event and all are invited to attend this moving service starting at approximately 5:15pm.
On this important day, the Cottage will be open from 3pm with a wreath making workshop for children, readings from the book "The House that Was Built in One Day: ANZAC Cottage" and talks about the Cottage's history in addition to the service. Entry is free and afternoon tea is available for gold coin donation.
