Father's Day

4th Sep 2015

It’s that time of year again where fathers become the focus of everyone’s attention and they get shown how much they are valued by their loved ones. Many fathers may protest to being spoilt and showered with gifts. This generally means that all they want is to spend time with their families, doing something that everyone will enjoy. If this is the case, here is a list of activities that may make your dad’s father’s day a good one:

-Head to Perth Zoo! It is not every day that your father gets to go to the zoo and see all the magnificent animals from around the world. No one can have a bad day when they have seen orang-utans! Fathers have free entry to the zoo on Father’s day.

- Pack a picnic, bring a footy or the cricket set and enjoy your father’s day with dad down at Cottesloe Beach. Any day at the beach is a good day but Cottesloe Beach is a particularly beautiful beach. This is a lovely family setting and is perfect to take pictures at so this Father’s day is remembered fondly. Challenge dad to take a dip in the ocean for some entertainment!

- The City of Subiaco is hosting Father’s day events through the town centre. From 10am to 2pm on Saturday 5 September, there will be a range of free activities for kids, families and dads in addition to retail and hospitality specials. Some of these activities include craft with dad, sport with dad and photos with dad. Visit Subiaco to share your best or worst dad joke to go in the draw to win an iPad mini.

- The Fremantle Arts Centre is another great option as to how to spend your Father’s day. There will be free exhibitionslive music and a relaxed café. If you dad has a certain respect for the arts and is quite cultural, then this could be the ideal day for him. Dad will love the animated atmosphere and appreciate the tremendous range of works from both international and national artists.

-Take dad to Rottnest for the day! If dad loves adventure and being outdoors then we will love the quick trip to Rotto. Go snorkelling (if it’s not freezing!), go for a bike ride around the island, go fishing, take and island tour and have lunch at one of the many beautiful beaches.

-If you are thinking about heading in to Perth city or Northbridge, there will be free family entertainment at Pizzarama Northbridge. This will be located at Northbridge Piazza. The movies that will be shown are A Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and the Lion King. This option is great for families with younger children as there will be free face painting and balloons.

If you want to get dad something special, why not do something unusual/unique?

Does your dad like cars? Then why not get him a gift voucher to drive a V8 super car!

Or if dad is has a special interest or a hobby, why not get him a magazine subscription? It is a gift that will keep dad entertained every month and means that he has something to look forward to.

If you have a small budget or want to give dad something personal, why not make dad something this Father’s Day. Maybe bake him his favourite cake or paint him something that will remind him of one of his favourite things. The options are limitless!

Another option would be to book dad a holiday. Cottesloe Beach House Stays has numerous properties located throughout Cottesloe and the surrounding suburbs. Dad may love the beach and staying in a beachfront property would be the perfect gift.
