Hopman Cup 2016

14th Dec 2015

Serena Williams, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Murray, Gael Monfils and Nick Kyrgios. What do all these tennis stars have in common? They will all be in Perth for the 2016 Hopman Cup. The Hopman Cup is held at the Perth Arena and was previous held at Burswood. The Perth Arena is a fantastic location for the Hopman Cup to take place. It is on William Street- just a couple of minutes for the Perth City train station and bus station, between Northbridge and the CBD so grabbing dinner and drinks after watching some of the highest quality tennis is a breeze. The Arena has a capacity for the tennis of 12,500. There are suites and function facilities available if you are travelling in groups.

The Hopman Cup is named after Harry Hopman. Harry Hopman is considered to be one of Australia’s greatest tennis players and coaches. He captained Australia to 16 Davis Cup titles between 1939 and 1967. As a player he won seven Grand Slam doubles and mixed doubles titles, was a member of the victorious Australian Davis Cup team in 1939 and reached the singles final of the Australian Championships three times. His coaching philosophies were absorbed by many Australian players of the 1950s, 60s and onwards and his fame spread to the USA, where he would later set up his international coaching school.

The tournament runs from 03- 09 January 2016. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek online (through the website and on mobile). Ticket prices range from $10- $96 for the single session tickets, depending on age and the ticket type. There are also all session packages available if you are a real tennis enthusiast. Food and beverages (non alcoholic and alcoholic options) are available from Perth Arena (highly recommend the chips and aioli!). Unfortunately you cannot bring your own food and drinks in.
