Get ready folks, it’s Showtime! The Perth Royal Show is here for 2016. From 24 September to 1 October, there will be eight days of rides, competitions, show bags, exhibitions, fireworks and so much more! The Royal Show also coincides with the school holidays so there is loads of fun for parents and kids!! However the Show isn’t just for kids, there is something to stimulate everyone’s interest. Here’s a few examples to whet your appetite!

For adrenaline junkies: We recommend scheduling most of your day to hang out in sideshow alley. There are rides for speed and adrenaline as well as rides for kids and family. An example of a terrifying ride is the Speed 2. Speed 2 is back again for this year’s show and is higher and faster than the original 100km per hour Speed ride.

For family: For the kids there are rides like cup and saucers and carousels. Also featuring at side show alley are haunted houses. Dare Dad to walk through without screaming! Rides range in price and include height and age restrictions. There are so many fair games to choose from! Try your luck with games such as Carnival Clowns, Lucky Ducks, Balloon Darts, Slam Dunk Basket Ball, and much more.

For animal lovers: If you love animals then the Royal Show is for you! There are so many animals on display, some for judging and some for cuddling! Dog shows, cat shows, cattle judging- the list goes on. Be sure to check what time the judging starts for each event so you can spectate. At the Creatures Great and Small Pavilion attendants can pat-a-bunny, pat-a-pig and so much more. There are also non-animal competitions taking place that are fun to watch. See the wood chopping competition in action or check out the art exhibitions.

For foodies: For those who appreciate great quality food, there is a huge range of fantastic stalls located in pavilions around the show grounds. Stroll the WA Dairy Pavilion to meet the farmers and taste samples of their dairy products. At the IGA Fresh from WA Pavilion, you will also find fresh WA locally grown samples to taste. Daily cooking demonstrations are shown from 10am- 5pm. If you are a keen baker you will love the Cookery Pavilion where you will find an array of cakes, muffins, slices and more delicious treats. Yum!!

Exciting new show bags: A major part of attending the Royal Show is purchasing show bags. You can choose from a huge range of confectionary bags. These bags include favourite big name brands like Cadbury, Starburst and Whizz Fizz. There are also Lifestyle bags, AFL bags and Cosmopolitan just to name a few. Some new exciting bags for 2016 include luxury bags, bags for teens, girls and boys. Prices range for each bag and these bags are sold at different locations throughout the show. It’s always handy to have some spare money on you in case you stumble across a bag that you just can’t leave without!!

Our tips: We highly recommend planning your day so that you don’t miss out on what you want to see and do. Show bags can go quickly during the day so it’s best to know what stalls are selling your bags. Also allow time for walking as you’ll be covering a lot of ground! Another suggestion is to grab hold of a map as it can get very confusing trying to locate certain rides and exits.

If you need accommodation close to the Showgrounds and near the beach, Claremont and Cottesloe are the perfect areas to stay. Cottesloe Beach House Stays has accommodation throughout Claremont and Cottesloe. Our properties are just a short walk away from the train line which stops at Claremont Showgrounds. No need to worry about finding parking or lugging around your purchases after a long day at the show. Book now to avoid missing out!
