Why Celebrate Australia Day 2016 in Perth?

Perth is a fantastic place to spend your 2016 Australia Day. The weather is warm and Perth has so many spectacular beaches that you’ll be spoilt for choice. Australia Day is a national holiday so you’ll have to double check what is open and if certain places charge a surcharge. Make sure you you’re your day so that you don’t miss out on joining in on the celebrations.

There are the annual Australia Day Skyworks. The fireworks are held around the Swan River where the spectators can watch the fireworks along the foreshore. The theme for Skyworks this year, in its 32nd year, is “Join the Party”. You can enjoy this event and “join the party” for free as this is a free event! This year’s event program includes the popular free Entertainment Zone on Langley Park, impressive Air and Water Show on and over the Swan River, Survival Perth concert on Ozone Reserve, and of course the spectacular fireworks finale featuring a new laser show with 360 degree visibility. For more information on how to get to there, where to go, the program and Skyworks information click her to head to the official website.

If you are more of a pool than beach person then you are in luck! The Claremont Aquatic Centre is hosting an Australia Day BBQ. The BBQ will happen from 8am- 11am.  There is a free sausage sizzle for those you attend. All that attendees need to pay is the normal entry fee. This BBQ is open to people of all ages. It is a fantastic place to spend Australia Day with the family, especially if you or some of your group are not the strongest of swimmers.

Other ideas as to what to do this Australia day include the Indian Ocean Fireworks and Celebrations in Fremantle, spending the day at Cottesloe Beach and have a BBQ with a good group and there is also the Kalamunda Water Park.
