How to celebrate Australia Day in Perth!

Are you still deciding what to do this 2018 Australia Day in Perth? Cottesloe Beach House Stays has listed below a number of options to assist you in making your final plans.

For those seeking a fireworks display, there is lots of locations to choose from this year, or if you’re looking for something a little more upbeat, we have that for you to.

It’s going to be a top of 29 degrees for Friday…Perfect weather we think - Not too hot, not too cold, just right!!

Events

  • The Town of Mosman Park is holding a celebration at Memorial Park. The event starts at 8am and includes a free BBQ breakfast and fantastic atmosphere for a picnic with family or friends.  
     
  • The Claremont Aquatic Centre is holding a poolside BBQ event on Australia Day with fun for the whole family planned. The Centre is putting on rides and activities to make sure that the little ones are kept amused all day!
     
  • The Australia Day Coogee Beach Festival is a free family event, held by the City of Cockburn. You can enjoy rides, entertainment, free sausage sizzle, sand castle workshop, water melon eating competition & much more!
     
  • Ashfield Reserve has Australia Day celebrations and fireworks from 5-9pm. Enjoy a family friendly, relaxed afternoon filled with live music, show rides & fireworks.

Firework locations

If you just want to watch the fireworks, there are plenty of locations for you to sit back, relax & enjoy – see below.

Langley Park
The City of Perth will be hosting an event at Langley Park from 3pm with live music, dance, art and food at the Entertainment Zone. At 8pm the Skyworks will occur with WA’s largest annual firework, laser and water display lighting up the Swan River.

Sir James Mitchell Park

Sir James Mitchell Park is the hub of the South Perth celebration zone for Australia day. With train rides, arts & crafts tents, inflatable horse racing, giant tennis and a big top with entertainment, it’s certainly our pick of the day! Suitable for all ages.

Kings Park & Botanic Gardens

You can enjoy the 21 Gun Salute at midday and then entertainment from 3pm onwards for just a gold coin donation at Kings Park Botanic Gardens.

Supreme Court Gardens

Starting from 3pm the Supreme Court Gardens hosts a Birak Concert, as well as a stunt show taking place.

Shops

We would also just like to remind you that shopping centres are still open this Australia day too.

  • Claremont Quarter: Open from 8am – 6pm
  • Westfield Garden City: Open from 8am – 6pm.
  • Karrinyup: Open 8am - 6pm
  • Westfield Carousel: Open 11am - 5pm
